「Hi! I’ve just done the old loop-around and am currently waking up after 5 hours just after midnight. It is 12:43 and I am deathly tired. I will however resist my inevitable death for just long enough to write this commentary. Someone please help Hata operate the vnts formatter after I’m dead, I swear it’s not that hard.
First of all this week, the Fate/Extra CCC translation is at last complete. This is a prequel to an already officially localized game, Fate/Extella. It’s also got gameplay, so that part is probably kuso (my extreme prejudice shines through here). Oh, and the fan translation seems to also include Fate/Extra which is somehow different from Fate/Extra CCC? I give up, someone else figure out this eggplant mess for me.
Sona-Nyl, too, is at last out. While the translation is by kamitranslator koestl, the engine work looks to have multiple tragic issues. I would hold off on this one until you can get info on how much of the bugs have actually been fixed, though I’ve heard some are already quashed. For what it’s worth, they very much seem to have tried to do it right on the release — there’s ero and console version content in one package, easy patching for Steam versions, and so on. But do your own research, the last few things I read in Japanese were parts of light novels.
Tenshi Souzou, or whatever kittymeow decided to call it (I am literally too lazy to check), is the latest yuzuge. I don’t know if anyone thought it was anything special, but then again, being yuzuge, the upper-tier mediocrity is probably what you want in the first place. Anyway, it’s coming out in January sometime.
…Did you know that in the Tier list podcast I did with Bee and many other Daybreak translations team members, we just rated all but 1 yuzuge as “Yuzurot”? To find out what sort of contrived logic was used to pull just one game out of the yuzughetto, you’ll simply have to watch it. Five hours well spent I say.
The magical girl 1 heroine arrow gay cometh. Specifically on the 14th. I imagine I’ve said this before but this is one of those JOP starter titles for some people, since it’s short and relatively stimulating or whatever. Certainly the HCGs aren’t too bad, but I can’t comment on the rest. We actually have a review of it, so maybe look at that instead of whatever I have to say.
ONE’s PC demo is out. No longer will you have to use a switch to peruse the moderately soulful graphics contained therein. I wonder if they changed the plot to not repeat this one flashback sequence in every single route. I certainly wonder how they changed a certain route with a rather shocking plot development… Maybe they didn’t, I guess. Eh, whatever. If nothing else the old one will always be there, though its graphics are so soulful that you may end up with a dangerous excess of soul if you’re not careful. Maybe play a yuzuge beside it to drain some of the soul back out?
Dungeon travelers TH2? <— I wrote this but I literally couldn’t care less. It’s some dungeon crawler that for some reason has To Heart 2 characters or something. Did you know To Heart 2 got a fan translation? One of the craziest things about that TL is just how long it took, with the translator making slow but steady process over many, many years. Speaking of such, I wonder how Nursery Rhyme is doing. It’s been a while since they said it probably wouldn’t be long. Maybe they’re actually saving it for christmas.
Ah, and last of all Sukera Somero’s Lip Trip. Given the brand it’s Yuri, so I think I care. Though right now I’m getting through Wataoshi volume 1 (in Japanese, of course), so I guess I have my current yuri dose hooked up anyway. Anyway somero’s the brand where people that aren’t J-MENT write things I think. This one looks much hornier than the other thing the writer’s put out, Oshirabu, which kind of could go either way because the guy’s h-scene writing was kind of confusing at times but overall okay I guess. Also somehow it’s “omegaverse” except this term has clearly been removed from all sensible meaning now that we have women in it. Come on, we all know you made this shit up to have men get pregnant. Alpha and beta are clearly just seme and uke or some shit. Whatever, I guess they didn’t have to make the “omega” into a catgirl to make her go into heat and have this sex the plot up. Which is actually kind of a sin when you think about it; you could have a catgirl in there and you just didn’t? Send him to Gulag, I say!」

Lately I’ve finally been developing a reading habit again, which requires me to do my work for the day early and then just read in pure Japanese. No texthooker, no nothing – well idk how to set up look-up dictionaries on my recluse mode tablet without Google Services anyways. Things I’ve been near obsessively reading are CROSS+CHANNEL, NHK ni Youkoso‘s novel version and the Tsukihime Web version. But I started a lot of other things due to my terrible habit of starting things and never finishing them. Well, さらばだ! This is the main change I want to bring into my life as a new year’s resolution. Read. Read. Read. N1. Read. Read. Burnout. Die.
Well, Akatsuki no Goei and Chusingura are both moving forward, but there’s only crawling pace progress on the Kusarihime editing. They might cross the 50% mark for editing this year, but I don’t believe in more. There’s holidays coming up, and people usually spend them with family.
Tsuma Netori is close to 100% editing. This might still release this year. I’m not losing my hope. But we’re actually getting a bunch of NTR games this year which I noticed after going through a list of all the released NTR games in recent times. Saikey and some others like RunQ and Capu are contributing to many of them being released.
The big release for the week was supposed to be Sona-Nyl of the Violet Shadows -What Beautiful Memories- by Liar-Soft, a game whose localization had been 7 years in the making. There’s a lot of content in this game and according to my friend Narcosis, the games are all connected. I recently picked up Ourai no Gahkthun ~What a Beautiful Braves~ again and I noticed proper nouns like “Erudite Scholar” which are used across the whole WaB series vocabulary. Gahkthun is pretty underrated as it has an amazing translation that really soaks you into its plot – if you haven’t tried it, pick it up!
Either way, as Zaka already remarked, the Sona-Nyl of the Violet Shadows release has some blemishes, mainly because it’s a port to Ren’py that retains a lot of the QoL-unfriendly design decisions that the original engine that Liar-Soft uses also features. For example there’s no backlog at all, there was no music on the title screen at launch and some other bugs were discovered. However, MangaGamer swiftly published a patch to solve many of these issues.
We actually been granted some keys for a giveaway event, our first attempt making one with the Gleam software, and this actually was really successful. We’re looking towards 1500 participants in our first giveaway on Fuwa ever and in consequence to that many other companies started contacting us with more giveaway opportunities. Nekonyan only has Tenshi Souzou RE-BOOT as an update. That game has now an official Steam page and its slated for a January 2024 release. This game is the newest Yuzuslop, but I heard it’s much less slop than other Yuzuslop. People seem to love that pink haired girl that calls you a (zako) small fry all the time, well each their own. I personally only played Senren Banka and I’m interested in Tenshinranman that’s still buried deeply in Sekai Project’s icebox. I have to agree with SuperAnge and say that the humor of calling the protagonist a virgin doesn’t resonate with me at all. The same tired joke repeated over and over doesn’t make it funny.
Next, there’s Shiravune and has there been a recent week where Shiravune hadn’t been killing it with updates and releases? Destiny Star Girlfriend will now release on the 14th, a day after my birthday – its tomorrow folks! – and Kosakyun already made a pretty amazing review for it. I’m always impressed what this guy can do, really glad to have him around.
Next there’s new announcements with Dungeon Travelers: To Heart 2 in Another World which does intrigue me as the Dungeon Travelers games look pretty fun. Lotte has been hyping them for the longest time now and I’m finally interested in trying them out. Sadly, the game is rated adult in Germany, so unless Shiravune submits it to our institutions, it won’t be officially rated and we can’t purchase it without VPNs. I’m kinda over this shit now, so I might grab a VPN soon enough… I’m an adult and I want to play these games, goddammit.
There’s also some nukige slop release called Saving Mrs. Hinako with my Cock that’s slated for 2024. This game has been fan translated before, but Shiravune still picked it up. It’s from Studio Pork, a very fitting studio name for haram content producers, and it might suggest more Studio Pork games to come out in the future. We will see what the rest of the year got in store for us.
Lastly, there’s a release date for LipTrip ~My Boss Is My Heat Suppressant?!~ which is a way too literally translated title, but given the nature of the game it might be appropriate. Zaka didn’t complain, so I don’t need to either. Anyways, I’ll go back to reading Welcome to the NHK! now. Baibai VNTS friends!」
The ‘no backlog’ issue in Sona-Nyl is more like rewind feature that available in Ren’py, so yeah there’s actually backlog, just not in conventional sense (I’m more surprised that the one who said it seemingly never touch Inganock considering that it already available since 2009, and Inganock has the same form of backlog minus the rewind). In the end, what I can say is that I admit that while Sona-Nyl has some issues, no backlog is definitely not one of those.
That aside, well good for Type Moon fans now that they got Fate Extra CCC in English and now Mahoyo is on Steam (Which run quite well on my potato laptop).
