Virtual Reality game developer My Dearest announced that two titles of the ‘Chronos-Universe’, Tokyo Chronos and ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos will be releasing for the Nintendo Switch as a double package in 2024. The two works are notable for their blending of virtual reality and visual novel gameplay, featuring multiple decision points influencing a branching storyline with multiple endings.
These single-player VR adventure games feature English and Japanese audio tracks and subtitles in English, Japanese, Chinese, French, and German. Unlike the existing editions, the Switch version will not require a virtual reality headset.
In Tokyo Chronos, you play as Sakurai Kyosuke, a young man waking up in an almost deserted Shibuya, at the usually bustling and crowded Scramble Crossing. No one is there – except for eight friends from his childhood. As they gather and reminisce about their past lives, one of the nearby electronic billboards comes to life with a blood-red message: “I am dead. Who killed me?”. A dramatic murder mystery is afoot…
ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos, is set 300 years from now. Players operate as Chloe, a young woman on a quest to avenge her friend Coco. She pilots a Makhia – a massive humanoid combat vehicle – in her fight against Meteoras, a race of gigantic alien beings. The battles take place in Augmented Tokyo, an underground city spanning a radius of 2 kilometres, the last bastion of mankind against the alien invaders. Decisions need to be made, friends will be gained and lost, and truths will unveil. In addition to the blending of VR and visual novel gameplay, ALTDEUS: Beyond Chronos features interactive mecha battles, whose outcome also influence how the game progresses.
No specific release date beyond 2024 has been given by MyDearest.
