「If you have the kind of eagle eye I’d expect of a fellow autist, you may have noticed that today’s VNTS has some slight formatting changes. And is written by me somehow. So why have I had to step in? Well, mostly Hata is home being a normie, seeing his parents, only able to use a tablet, all the usual activities I likely should praise but cannot as my entire identity is bound up in being an asocial nerd. Admittedly the kind of asocial nerd that chats on discord for hours a day, but whatever, what happens on the Interwebs stays on the Interwebs. Anyway, the absence of a slave to perform my manual labor made me realize once again that I really should automate some of that labor. In the past, I’ve copied the VNTS post over to Notepad++ and run a regex replace on it to bold lines, but I never did anything for the headers, which are like two minutes of annoying busy-work to format. As such, it was only natural that I spend like 4 hours trying to code a formatter as the first thing I ever did with C#. I’ll be able to give this to Hata and he can hopefully use it to help himself, too!

Anyway, really all I did was change it to my preferred style: no “official work” header, all headers the same size. Hata was like “you’re doing it wrong”, to which I could only reply that no he’d been doing it wrong for ages and I couldn’t be arsed to correct him after the first two or so times. Maybe I’ll go back to h2 size after this, maybe I’ll stay with h3.

Right, there are translation news to comment on. Numero uno, Akagoei translator Bee is doing a poll to find out what title to translate after finishing Akagoei 3. To further mess up his results, I will refuse to even describe the titles and just link you to the poll.

Numero deux, Chizome no Hana looks interesting; a fan tl of a murder mystery / life and death drama VN I’ve never heard of? Based. This is for the free version, but I can’t find anything describing what the non-free version has extra. The translator does mention having restored a “cut route” which was mostly present in the free version script. Though it looks like there’s a little jank involved there. This is a patch with some very soulful decisions, like Western name order in narration and Japanese in speech, as well as putting the meaning of everyone’s name kanji in the namebox because apparently characters bring it up in the story. You know, I don’t know if I’d agree with these decisions, but I have to admire the will to defy convention in the name of presenting things the best way you know how, at least in a fan tl.

Nombre tres, Walkure Romanze is at last translated. God, how many projects has this one had? It must have been at least two givne how long it’s been since I heard stuff about translating it first. This one features a moderately soulful honorifics / localized patch option. I saw someone say that this had a fun contrast between moege outside of the porn and degen in the porn stuff. Honestly from having inspected its images a while back, the biggest thing is that it has a lot of piss. Like, a lot. I think in multiple routes too, though at this point I can’t quite remember. The sad thing is that despite being an appreciator of that category of image, I didn’t really like it that much, as I couldn’t quite vibe with the artstyle. Ah well.

Nummer quarante, Clover Day’s is out from Nekonyan. This is the Plus version, which has some animation that people seem divided about. All I really know about the ge is that literally everyone is a childhood friend, so it basically has to be kamige. No one can dissuade me of this notion, least of all myself, who will respectfully decline to read it so as to not ruin its purity in my mind. Also there’s some kind of lossless audio patch that apparently really balloons the file size. Kind of cool, though I doubt I’d be able to tell a difference in voices if they’re using a decent codec like ogg or whatever.

Fünf目, heck there’s nothing else to talk about and I already wrote the dumbest number things yet. Whatever uhh I feel like I haven’t seen KARAKARA progress in a hot minute, so this KARAKARA 3 news might mean something. Feel free to tell me in the comments.

The Fujobox

「 Hiya! It’s Fujoneko time now~ ★ I’ve been working with everyone here at Fuwa for for 6 months now, and I’m finally feeling brave enough to write in a more personal manner to you all. I wondered what to write about, but then I thought, Why not just write about why I have nothing to write about? Hah, got ‘em! For now I’m just slaving away at Fuwa and since we live under capitalism, I gotta find a job in order to have value as a human being (and survive, that’s also important!)
Hata ended up finding me a part-time job, except it’s not yet something I can rely on completely. I mean, it’s this or becoming an empty shell at a meaningless typical job, so for now I’m just trying to survive on my skills (and my parents’ mercy) to find something reliable. So hey, if you know anyone that needs a graphical/text editor, hit me up on the comments (lol).

What comes first:

• 1 onion;
• I used 3x garlic pieces but you can use how many you want, garlic is always good;
• A bit of parsley (optional);

After that:

• A quarter of a red pepper (or however much you want to use, this is very freestyle);
• A big sweet potato;
• 2 carrots;
• 2 leeks (or how many you need, really)
• 4 cabbage leaves (these are pretty soft, if you only have cabbage that is best for soup, don’t use it);
• I used a mushroom mix that was on sale, which had a bit of 3 types of mushrooms, but you can just use whatever, I’m no mushroom expert.
• A handful of chickpeas (mine were frozen);
• LOTS AND LOTS OF PEPPER AND GINGER AAAA— or not, if you’re a weakling (or just alergic), hmph.

Instructions:

1. Start with the first layer (onion, garlic, and the parsley). Just chop all of it in tiny pieces. You can just add a bit of olive oil (or whatever other non-mediterranean countries use to cook) to the pan and let it heat up (high fire). What I usually do is that I add a tiny bit of garlic to the oil and when it starts sizzling it’s time to dump the rest. Just let it cook and turn gold and then you can turn the fire to low.
2. For the second layer, just cut the vegetables however you want—I usually just cut them in round slices. Dump all the stuff except the chickpeas into the pan. I usually throw the hard ingredients first (carrots, potatoes, mushrooms because they need to cook well too) and a bit after I throw the rest (cabbage, leek, red pepper) and just let it cook with the lid on.
3. After it looks all soft and yummy, just add the chickpeas. Then, when those too look good, all you need is to add the spices and salt you want (emphasis on the spices.) Pepper is great for everything, you barely need any salt. I personally use a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of black pepper and a teaspoon of ginger. You can add more, if it feels right—go wild!
4. Enjoy the nom nom nomming! ♡

Other than food, I’ve got my pets to keep me company. My dog especially, since she kinda forces me to get some Vitamine D outside. Here you go, Zaka, I know how much you like her.

Now, this week gave me a nice surprise. I’ve been following ijedi1234‘s translations as I’m a big CHARON fan, so I was gladly surprised to see a new translation, but not for a CHARON title. This one is for Chizome no Hana, and while at first I found it odd-looking, I can understand its charm. Besides, it appears to have some BL elements… we might be seeing a review for it one of these days.

UsoNatsu is another one I’ve got my eyes on. It’s gorgeous and looks wholesome… perfect for an end of Summer read. Not sure if Mirei has a route of her own, but I’d go for her, she’s so pretty uuugh. Girls <3

Not much to add to this week’s releases. I’m not into moege so Clover Day’s is a big miss (maybe I’m just not into incest lol) and Walkure Romanze looks nice but eh, I’m not that into hetero romance-focused VNs.
