Welcome to the Fuwanovel VNTS, where we shamelessly copy the work of one illustrious 4chan /jp/ member in collating translation progress and add minor dabs of value through corrections and additions. Is this for real? Are they back? Yes, we’re so goddamn, you wouldn’t believe it. After a hiatus of six months (half a year) Zaka and Hata are finally back to talk about the weekly changes for our beloved localization projects and other movements on the market.
Zaka has been doing fine and just followed his education path to become a computer wizard – since he achieved wizardry already, he just needs to get that IT thing down. The reason for the untimely hiatus, well… let’s say depression and some family issues. And during that period, not much had moved on the site in general.
However, this is a thing of the past now and if you haven’t already realized, since our re-relaunch a couple weeks ago, we haven’t missed a single day where we couldn’t publish at least three articles. This is because the Fuwa team actually managed to unleash a lot of power, once the ball got rolling. And now we’re sitting here, reminiscing about our successful last weeks and how we’re going about to craft up the VNTS again.
We’re right before the important Anime Expo week, where all almost all the publishers will have lots of amazing new things to present. So I guess, this week is the calm before the storm, don’t you think? So without further ado, let’s get into the week’s events.

「Welcome back, all. It’s a fantastic summer here in Sweden. It gets so hot here these days, I have no idea why anyone would want to travel further south this time of year. I assume they had a fire elemental in the family or something, it’s the only plausible reason. Personally, I prefer the kind of temperature where a fan is still effective at keeping off the heat. In any case, the light is wonderful, the parsley, dill, basil, chives, and tomatoes we have growing have turned out great, there’s brilliant green all around outside, and I can’t help but feel like I’m living in some sort of suburban idyll despite my apartment being quite a bit off the ground.
In stark contrast to the verdant wonderland outside, the dumpster fire that is fan and official localization smokes ever on. Sometimes a fireman comes along, rushes into the flames, and through heroic effort rescues a work from the flames that would otherwise have marred it. I think some of them even get to wear protective gear. You know, I hear Nukitashi is actually quite funny if you’re not going incandescent whenever an inadvisable dig at the editor’s personal basket of deplorables or whatever appears. Though I doubt I’d approve of every decision, this is the man that fucked up Chrono clock after all. Honestly, the only real thing to expect from this is for everyone to be miserably uninformed, unskilled in at least one of the languages they should really know to even enter the conversation, and criticize shit that doesn’t even matter in nine cases out of ten. Anyway, I’m not reading the translation so I can’t comment meaningfully on it. I think Hata wrote a post about it, hope you had fun with that. I purposely didn’t read it so I could be as pithy as possible here. Which is kind of retarded but whatever we crossed that line when I got the autism diagnosis wwwwwww.
Oh yeah, there are like numbers in green or something. I’m supposed to talk about them, I think… It’s been so long… Uhh, Bee keeps working on Akagoei so I guess his business is out of the red again or something. Or he needs a cope because it is? Whatever I love you man. I’m pretty sure he’ll never actually edit the stream to a Real Video so here’s the podcast I did with him a while back. There are casts with more interesting people than me there too, like one of the translators working on Tsukikana.
My heart is warmed by the Chusingura translator still making progress. They’re actually over 1/4 done! I look forward to them getting to 80% then ghosting us like the Irotoridori project. Or finishing, that would be cool too, but kind of less funny to be honest.
The Fate Extra/CCC project is one I don’t remember seeing, which may perhaps be explained by my long absence from checking VNTS. Or the gameplay meaning I’m not interested anyway. Who knows? Part of me feels like I’ve made literally the same comment about not caring in a previous VNTS. I think this is where the youngsters would put one of those newfangled skull emojis these days. Personally I just look at the nearest rope-shaped object and contemplate mortality.
H2O is at 75% edited. I guess they finished TL when I wasn’t looking? I suppose was too busy putting based and necessary bat puns into my own meager translation efforts or something. (Shinimasu 2023, the dream??? -Hata)
Kud Wafter, huh. I’m guessing this is a different translator than the previous project, though god knows. I find the difference in progress between the porn and nonporn scripts highly amusing. I guess Kud really can be a good dog when she so desires.
And uhh “tsuma netori” okay it’s some NTR thing. The guy sprite looks kinda funny somehow. Yeah he looks a bit like Fuminori, but in a really… I don’t know it just feels like he’d be a good meme. You know what I’m saying?
Ahem, okay official translation now. Onigokko! has a fandisc? Damn, I don’t care at all. Clover day’s has a release date? Hmm, I think Hata posted something on that. I’m still kind of sad none of Astro’s work ended up being used. Oh, and Grisaia Chronos Can We Milk This Franchise Any More!? Revived Defenestrated Rebellion Ultra Max Fnord is releasing in July I guess. I sleep. (WTF is a Fnord, Zaka? -Hata)
Damn, I’ve never heard of Deceived By The Host or Fall Into Happily Ever After before. Looking at Deceived By The Host, it’s some Saikey NTR ge translation, so I guess there’s my answer. Surely the other one is also an NTR nukige… wait what? It’s an otomege?! With sus English by a Japanese dev?! Submitted to Otome Jam!?!???!???!??!?!??!?
I will admit I didn’t see that one coming. Kind of cool, though it’s hard to expect much from something where the ellipses are still displaying like ・・・.

「Who would’ve thought that after taking such a strong setback (The Disappearance of Hatatsune Miku) like 6 months ago, we could come back full force again? Well, I didn’t – but apparently it is true. Fuwanovel is working like clockwork right now, dishing out article after article like it is actually fun to work for free. And that it is, because the individual team members that I’ve left pretty much without proper leadership over the last five months of my absence, have grown together into a force to be reckoned with. I have never been so glad and so energetic before. Viva la HoshiNovel – once again!
But while this is all fine and dandy, this is not why you’re here – I guess – so let’s talk about the happenings in the localization scene. I’m rusty, so bear with me:
I’m happy for Akatsuki no Goei to continue so smoothly. Maybe we will see this entire trilogy before Rance X‘s translation is completed? Would be fun. I liked the first game, mainly for Tsuki. Tsuki is love. Tsuki is life. Ah, and Bee wrote a really awesome post talking about the Nukitashi happening. It’s wholesome.
H2O is also one of the projects that’s moving so smoothly you could think that Studio Frisay is actually a localization company with a proper development schedule in place. They seem really professional. I honestly can’t wait to play another Makura game, maybe after I touch Ikikoi again? However, I would really really love for them to do HimaNatsu afterwards. It’s similarily relaxing and chill to H2O and not too difficult either. I love Yomi! Give me Yomi!
The rest of the big fan TL projects, I don’t really care much about. This week is only the calm before the storm anyways, since the first July week will have the amazing (For one, Dokomi which I can’t attend :bigsad:) Anime Expo with a handful of visual novel related industry panels again. We’ll actually send one of our Fuwanovel staff out into the wild. Sadly, we couldn’t ensure them a press pass, so they just go as a visitor, but our beloved Maiagaru (who writes some thoughtprovoking articles btw.) will show up at the JAST USA Panels to do some live coverage and networking. Isn’t that amazing?
Then the Onigokko! Fandisc came out! Onigokko! itself had some amazing comedy through and through, and the Fandisc will contain 5 after-stories including one with the Imouto.
I’m honestly not too big on the whole little sister trope, except if they have an attitude that needs correction or say “Do you know me, dude?! (I love you Chiho) all the time. But JAST USA went full imouto promotion, so it will find its fans. I’m sure.
Sekai Project actually has a good run next week in the AX week, because they release Imouto no Seiiki (My Little Sister’s Special Place) and Amairo Chocolate 2 in short succession. By the time this article finally sees the light of day, they might already be out. I’m sure that one of our core staff, Denshahime will pick up that imouto game immediately and might review it soon. I honestly hope for Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi to come out soon. I really liked the anime.
Nekonyan finally finally will release the cursed Clover Day’s. For a detailed rundown of its localization history, please check one of my recent articles. It was so extremely fun to work on the research and I learned a lot. It’s still a shame that Astrokuso is not into the whole localization scene anymore. They had some great talent – now they’re a semi-pro Vtuber (?)
Now, the banger of the week. Nukitashi, Nukige Island, I’m a Celibate – Get me out of here, and other working titles were all scrapped and Shiravune, who managed to excavate the license from the buried Sol Press vault, went with the simple Nukitashi. Sadly, we can’t have nice things since Ittaku’s likely stellar translation was deliberately ruined by the heavy-handed editing by the destroyer of time… I mean Chrono Clock, Puffketeer. I never liked this guy and he never liked me, I’m for real.
Then Shiravune immediately announced Nukitashi 2. They did approach Ittaku about it, but he denied – likely because Nukitashi was something he didn’t really want to work on in the first place. If I ever had a localization firm (Oh, I do lol) then I would rather pick licenses which my staff would actually love to work on – everything else feels like it’s just calculated masochism.
That’s it for this week. I’m out of practice for VNTS production humor, so I hope that the next one will be snarkier and funnier again. But I don’t make any promises, since I will every day fall into bed around 23:00 with a caffeine crash because I’d been working my ass off making Fuwanovel great again. Oh no, a MAGA joke! I should’ve ruined Nukitashi myself!

No comment on Nukitashi in regard of the editing issue. As for AX, well I don’t know if I can expect something interesting, but at least I like both of Nukitashi release (After the hope to see it was bust thanks to Sol Press financial problem) and Clover Days Steam store is opening.
