Well met! Decay here, Tay became really busy with RL stuff, so I’m filling in. I’ve managed to pull myself away from Hearthstone just long enough to cobble something together here. We’ve got updates and releases! We’re in the thick of it now, and releases are being shot at us rapid-fire. You’re bound to find something for you in these last couple months of the year.
Anyway! Welcome to our weekly VNTS (Visual Novel Translation Status) series, in which we track visual novel translation updates in-house (we don’t rely on /jp/ posts on 4ch, for example) and post it for your enlightenment and enjoyment each Saturday. If you find any errors, or you think a project is missing from this list, please let me know in the comments. Any new updates are marked by orange text.

- Aokana – Mashiro’s route completed! Only one route is left.
- AstralAir – More progress, over 1000 lines this week!
- Ayakashi Gohan – Updated to share with us some progress in proofreading and reinsertion (untracked by us), as well as a status update on the project in general.
- Black Wolves Saga, Ken ga Kimi, Starry Sky – Another set of updates from Golden Spirit! Black Wolves Saga is fully translated!
- Divine Slice of Life released ([NSFW] buy here); has FuwaReview (score: 2.5/10).
- Koichoco – An exciting update this month, they are now on the very final stages of patch production, hoping to deliver the final product to us soon.
- Koiken Otome – Big editing progress this week.
- Little Busters and Tomoyo After were both picked up for official steam releases!
- Muv Luv – The Kickstarter finished, and it’s a huge success! Every stretch goal was smashed, bringing Degica a whopping $1.2 million.
- Sukimazakura to Uso no Machi – New translation project! AND a release! Get the partial patch here. Translation is at 12.5%.
- White Album 2 – A little bit of progress this week.
- Witch’s Garden – Another week, another percentage point, keep it up!
- Clannad has been confirmed for November.
- Some Narcissu trilogy translation progress.
- G-Senjou no Maou – Devil on the G-String Released! (buy it here)
- Plenty of Mangagamer updates. Himawari is now in scripting, Higurashi Ch.2 has a date (11/13), Beat Blades Haruka and Tokyo Babel are both rapidly approaching 100% translation.
- A little progress on Starless mosaic / script check, working on Shiny Days too. Bugs ahoy~
- Eiyuu*Senki – Releases November 12th for PS3/PSN by Fruitbat Factory.

I wonder how Wish is doing. It’s been a while since I heard… oh wait, a little googling got me to a progress tracker! …seems to be going slow. As a project I’m actually somewhat interested in, it’s sad that it’s only gotten this far since the 6th of August; not sure what the reason is. Hmm, could ask them on ask.fm… yeah, I’ll do that.
Black Wolves Saga VNs are dark otome VNs, which probably means uguu cages and terrible boyfriends apart from the cool stuff but is also somewhat interesting to my, uh, edgier side.
Once upon a time we thought Aokana was dead, and now it seems to be going from strength to strength. Editing seems to be following close behind translation, so we might actually see a release before the heat death of the universe too; too many VNs get stuck in editing hell. Delicious community blogger Darbury recommends you eat the whales to help avoid this, though I doubt I’d actually survive if I tried that.
I wonder if the Muv-luv Kickstarter is now the highest-grossing VN crowdfunding campaign to date. What I really hope for is that it receives a thorough TLC pass, given the somewhat… contested translation quality. So far I’ve been planning to read it in Japanese (as with quite a few others, sigh) if I ever get to a reasonable level (it’s… going to take a while at my speed), but perhaps I might allow myself to be lazy if it turns out good.
I always planned to re-read CLANNAD after a re-translation at some point. Perhaps I’ll be boarding the feels train this November… but maybe not. It’s so long. Warning, motherloving n-words. Skip to 03:53 for what I’m actually referencing, but you’re missing a highly unique experience.
Fruitbat Factory is (partly?) made up of members of Team Fluffy, the original translators for Little Busters. It makes sense that they’d be picked for an official TL. Tomoyo After was translated by Doki, who Fluffy joined at some point. We’ll see if VisualArt’s (show me the person who put that apostrophe there and I will slap them, no exceptions) decided to just handle it themselves; we know Frontwing did the same for ChiruChiru after all (god that one’s in a weird state; apparently SP plan to retranslate it or something?).
Turns out that G-Sen’s official release had its event graphics cropped by AkabeiSoft to make it widescreen (and higher res); SP is checking with AkabeiSoft to see if they can do something to help this. There was rather a (somewhat overly fierce) brouhaha around this. I suggest you not view anything but the picture comparisons unless you want to lose a few brain cells (or like seeing the world burn.) I personally think that some rather significant detail was lost. That said, I read the fan translated version long ago and don’t really feel like re-reading the VN, so this has little effect on me.
Oh, and wow, dat Hearthstone adventure sure is close. The cards look really bad though; there’s nothing to slow the meta and a lot of cards that will only work in a slow meta. I’m more looking forward to a positive impact on the Arena, though with paladins probably getting worse, so will rogues, and so rogue might be dethroned as the best class for good players. Sad. Also, Thomas was Alone is a decent game.」
Decay’s Musings
I’ve been neck deep in Hearthstone today. A new expansion was announced today… and it’s coming out next week! There’s the biggest professional tournament of the year happening, card reveals, and just so much stuff going on, I’ve barely had time to pay attention to anything else today. But I did glance at the translation updates and there’s some pretty exciting stuff happening!
I’m psyched for 4Rhythm, I was a little bit worried that it would end up heavily delayed due to translator Astro’s busy schedule but it seems like things are still trucking along. I can’t wait to see the fruit of that team’s labors. Meanwhile, the boys over at The Oxford Comma is Superior Subs have been hard at work on… some incomprehensible Hatsune Miku 4koma doujinshi. Maybe YOU guys can explain that cocoa joke to me. Oh, and rest assured that Noble Works is still progressing.
I’d also like to promote Kara no Shoujo 2 a little. I’ve been playing it since it was released last week, and I have really enjoyed it so far. Compared to KnS1, the sequel feels less like a cat-and-mouse thriller and more like an intertwining murder mystery with a LOT of characters thrown into a complex quagmire of village politics, religion, and misguided love. It’s been a joy trying to unravel the mystery as I read. I also like how it brings in elements from Cartagra to bring the whole series together in a satisfying way. This has become a series that is well worth reading if you’re a fan of mystery.
Releases are continuing to happen, and there are more releases on the horizon. Next week we have Eiyuu Senki which looks like a fun strategy game/VN hybrid for PS3 owners, and also Higurashi Chapter 2. The Koichoco team seems to be aiming for a release this month or maybe next if things take longer than expected. Oh yeah, and euphoria is releasing at the end of the month, too. I’m actually going to be reviewing that for FuwaReviews, so look forward to that when that happens. Oh, and Clannad, too! Ugh, too many VNs, not enough time to read them all. What a horrible curse. Wow that Aokana pacing almost on track/earlier (hopefully) than the anime airing it might seem! Definitely good to see other increases in near-completion projects such as Koiken Otome and KoiChoco as well 😀

Oh, yes, sorry for not being more clear with that. Steam does not allow pornographic content on their store, so it should always be assumed that every single steam release always has h-scenes removed.

I’ve been wondering for a while now, is the Tasogaredoki no Kyoukaisen project dead? The team hasn’t said anything for a very long time and a lot of people have been saying that they’ve just upped and vanished.
Eiyuu senki releases in 4 days?! You’re the only site claiming that :o. do you have a source because i can’t find anything using our good ol pal google. Even gematsu and siliconera have been quiet.

The group working on it, Lemnisca Translations, got hired (well, apparently there will be a Kickstarter to bring it over so idk the legal status) by SP for the official localization of Root Double. They discontinued working on 12Riven because of this.
