Visual novel publisher Sekai Project has announced that it will move the upcoming simul-release of Nie no Hakoniwa – Dollhouse of Offerings forward by one day to February 15th, 2024. Nie no Hakoniwa – Dollhouse of Offerings is Chatte Noire‘s debut work. Chatte Noire is a brand operated by its parent company, NEKO WORKs (known for the Nekopara series). Nie no Hakoniwa appears to be a serious and extremely gore-heavy game, which marks a complete departure from earlier titles.
Nie no Hakoniwa was publicly announced by Sekai Project at Anime Expo 2022. Until this week, little information had been released, and only the teaser page was available for the game.
But on January 29th, 2024, Sekai Project began actively promoting the title and moved its release date to February 16th. Slowly but surely, a translated trailer (featuring an opening theme by Shimotsuki Haruka), staff credits, and several character descriptions followed. The publisher promises a “long and satisfying story.”
Nie no Hakoniwa releases next week on February 15, and will be available to purchase from Steam and Denpasoft. The game supports four languages: English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. It will be possible to switch languages from the menu at any time.
Nie no Hakoniwa contains ample adult content that can be added via a separate DLC patch, price yet not determined. The price listed for the game on Sekai Project’s website is $29.99.
Story
A long time ago, an outlander appeared before the village of a long-suffering minority. In his possession was a mysterious “box” which was used by the oppressed to rise up and overthrow their oppressors.
Years later, that oppressed group formed seven noble houses and grew prosperous. However, House Shiki, which stood first among the Seven Noble Houses did not have a son to succeed the family. In order to have an heir, a young man from outside the village was adopted in to the family.
Kurou, born and raised as a “product” and ignorant of the subtleties of being a “person,” is introduced to Shiki Kyouko, eldest daughter of House Shiki. These interactions begin to build emotions within him. And on the day of their marriage – A nightmare is born.
