Publisher NekoNyan is back with their new project release. This time, they released their first VN from a team without any previous English release: ensemble‘s Secret Agent ~Kishi Gakuen no Shinobi Naru Mono~, localized as Secret Agent.
The game released today on Steam. The 18+ edition is now available on their website.
NekoNyan announced their translation for Secret Agent at the Knight Academy back in 2022 during Anime Expo on May 21st 2022. The game translation was made through the work of Ittaku as the main translator, Chuee as editor, and hubb2001 in charge as the image editor (in case you’re interested, we have an interview with him.)
Secret Agent is a visual novel made by ensemble.
The original release was in May 2020 as the First Press Edition; the Download Edition followed in November of that same year.
Ensemble is a visual novel and eroge producer, and an imprinted brand of WillPlus. Ensemble was founded on November 21st 2008 with Hana to Otome ni Shukufuku. They are most known for their moege featuring cross-dressing protagonists. For example: Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas, Sakura Mau Otome no Rondo, Omoi o Sasageru Otome no Melody, and their recent release Otome no Ken to Himegoto Concerto.
Esemble has its own sister brand: ensemble SWEET. They release “ecchi style” visual novels, starting in 2014 with games like Kanojo wa Ecchi de Midara na Hentai, Ecchi de Hentai! Yakimochi Ojou-sama!!, Koi Suru Ojou-sama wa Ecchi na Hanayome, and Ubu na Otome no Ecchi na Onegai. More recently, they’ve dipped into ensemble’s signature trap protagonists with Otome Kishi♥Ima Sugu Watashi o Dakishimete and their recent release Otome to Fureau, Hitotsu Yane no Shita.
More recently, Ensemble released its own short fandisc for Secret Agent: Secret Agent – Mini Game 3-bon Pack, focused on the After Stories for these three heroines: Kanon Mayfield, Renjouji Mai, and Shirogane Kagura. As for goods, ensemble released Kanon’s Dakimakura Cover and Kagura’s Dakimakura Cover in June 2020 and Mai’s Dakimakura Cover in December of the same year. The next year, they released this fandisc as a downloadable edition.
Shortly after, ensemble releases another fandisc called Secret Agent Kagebana ~Shadow Flower~. It’s one more After Story for each heroine with a sister harem story included — featuring Amenomori Yui and Amenomori Rise (as they won the popularity contest for the most beloved heroine.) Its downloadable edition released on May 20th 2021.
On July 1st 2023, ensemble created the bundle ensemble Ojou-sama Series Patch & Mini ADV Special Set, containing their full catalogue (including all Secret Agent titles.) It contains all patches and mini games releases with their games and was only sold for a limited period of time.
Mikage Jin, the protagonist, is a descendent of a family of ninjas who have been tasked with defending Japan ever since the Edo period. He is in training both to become an expert in the ninja arts and to eventually succeed his mother as a secret intelligence operative.
He was deployed, undercover, to Fuyuka Academy in order to gather information that will resolve an incident popularly known as the “Turncoat Affair” that had been making waves among the public.
Along with his AI partner, Momoka, Jin infiltrated the academy, and deepened his relationship with his classmate, Kanon Mayfield, a knight, Shirogane Kagura, the knight captain, Renjouji Mai and underclassman Amenomori Yui while carrying out his mission with the utmost discretion.
However, by freak accident, Jin’s true identity was revealed to Kanon. Though Jin having his identity revealed meant his mission was a failure…
“Please make me a ninja!”
In return for keeping his identity a secret, Kanon asked him to make her into a ninja!
Only time will tell if Jin will be able to successfully carry out his mission.
