Welcome to the Fuwanovel VNTS, where we shamelessly copy the work of one illustrious 4chan /jp/ member in collating translation progress and add minor dabs of value through corrections and additions. Entries with updates this week in bold. This week’s cover will be a SFW picture of Hentai Labyrinth as it’s the only relevant new release of the week.

Well, the drought post-AX hasn’t yet ceased, so while we see one or two surprise updates, there’s nothing major. I don’t think there’s much to talk about either, so we’re going to use today’s VNTS to talk about other things. Sorry guys, but that’s just how it is.

「It’s fucking nothing, as tsurezure would once report. I mean, it’s not literally nothing I guess, but it’s pretty close. I don’t really feel like thinking about it too hard, it’s already 20:00 and at my current rhythm that means my eyes are currently being absolutely molested by the ol’ Sandman. And you thought they only did eye fuck in clockup games! Anyway, I need to make up a guy to get mad about or I’ll never get a rant going to fill the air left by the uninspiring titles in green this week. That or I could try to look closer, but again, my eyes are drying as we speak. Fuck, let me get some eye drops.

…You know, these expired in like 2017 or some shit, but they’re literally salt and distilled water sealed in plastic. How the fuck would they realistically go bad in some decently hygienic cupboard? These are the questions that keep me up at night, right up there with whether your mother truly loves me or not. In any case, I actually read a visual novel some time ago, oshirabu. Honestly I kind of just picked it up because it was the monthly pick on a Japanese immersion learning server. It’s decent, but the structure is kind of off and it kind of ends a bit too quickly. Also the most conclusive part to the story happens in the porn append which is kind of weird. Maybe the fact that there needed to be porn also made them rush it a bit. Idk, I seem to be all about calling things questionably structured these days. The indie Japanese novel I read like 100 pages of today to finish, 焦点深度, also had a bit of that. It didn’t have the thing I was originally going to rant about: the Moege Drama Fakeout. For me, a defining example of this is Ikikoi: any time the story seems to be heading in a dark direction, the writer goes like “SHIT, I’M SUPPOSED TO BE WRITING A MOEGE HERE” and pulls out in the most unconvincing way imaginable.

I am willing to give a little license here: if the buildup doesn’t promise too much, or there are hints that things might not be so bad, fine. But when the jebait persists right until the point of actual commitment, consider me miffed. I will avoid getting into specifics, but Oshirabu‘s last choice felt kind of pointless despite everything. Let actual bad things happen, man. I don’t know, honestly the other stuff I’ve seen kind of does this better so is it even a trend? There’s this osananajimi wish fulfillment LN I read that actually has a kind of clever one because while the conflict is silly in retrospect, it’s also character development for like everyone involved even so. And the book kind of needed some spice anyway.

All I’m saying is don’t jebait me unless you’re going somewhere cool with it or I’ll send you the physical CD I don’t have cut into two pieces back to your office together with a complaint letter like that otaku madlad did for Kakyuusei 2. Apparently this is a photo of it.」

「It’s another week of absolutely nothing, like my predecessor already said, so there isn’t much on topic to talk about besides some numbers changing for higher numbers. There is also Hentai Labyrinth which is the only worthwhile release talking about, but since the entire fucking game uses very infantile looking pudgy women in near nude and there’s no CG or interface screen that wouldn’t impact FuwaBlog’s sfw chastity, I’m not adding a picture. Even the game cover has protruding butts!

Well, Hentai Labyrinth now. Apparently, it’s a game from Alicesoft, the folks that went for self-publishing (sans Rance and Beat Series) and then ran with Evenicle 2 into a thorny garden of complications when releasing things for the western market. Well, since self-publishing is a pain they went to DLSite this time to handle Hentai Labyrinth. Was that a good choice? I’m not sure, apparently the game experience is fine, which I extract from testimony of someone I’ve been trying to recruit for Fuwanovel recently. This person, who is an avid Alice Soft fan, marathoned the entire game and it left them somewhat exhausted. I guess there’s a load of content or great replayability?

Well, there’s nothing else to say, so I might use the VNTS platform for a roll call. The Yosuga no Sora project led under Mad, the most cursed VN project since Todokanai’s White Album 2 (or maybe the still not yet released Aiyoku no Eustia) is looking for someone to handle their most hated character route, Nao. What they’re looking for specifically is a TLC (Translation Checker) and they really tried every avenue to find one. They all seemed to have disappeared so they don’t have to work on Nao. I don’t fucking know what’s wrong with this character, but someone please help them. This project will probably turn out mediocre or borderline good, because there’s more people involved in it than in the battle of Sekigahara, but it finally needs to come to a close – they put their hearts into it fr. The chapter Yosuga no Sora/Haruka no Sora MUST COME TO AN END.
