Ryechu’s Nukige Corner – Sugar’s Delight [NSFW]

Welcome to Rye…erm, Bats’ Nukige Corner, where I introduce you to Nukige titles you may not have heard of before. For those who aren’t in the know, the term “nukige” refers to games that focus solely on sexual content. The plots of these games serve only to set the scene for the H-Scenes. If these types of games are of interest to you, read on!

Sometimes I get assigned a VN to review, and its premise is so bonkers that I can’t help but accept. However, I don’t really review nukige, as I don’t have any experience with it. So for this review, I called for backup. Enter the lovely (and dangerous) Ryechu, who’ll help me with the official FuwaReview for Sugar’s Delight.

Ryechu, the floor is yours. Give us a brief summary of this OELVN, which we will dub “Health Code Violations: The VN”.

“So Sugar’s Delight is about a girl who decided to pursue her dream of working/running a bakery/cake shop by…working at a patisserie. Yay. She works with a girl who goes by the psudonym Chocoa, and it turns out that, after a really stupid exchange with a very bland customer, they may or may not want to fuck the living shit out of each other. So…they do…except they do it with cake. Then there’s some drama that leads to…more sex!”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. The premise is as barebones as it gets. Sex scenes take up about 80% of this very short VN, so for that, it performs the duty of a nukige perfectly. The build-up, however, is just plain dumb. This could be masked with some decent dialogue, but I’m afraid that the dialogue is stiff and riddled with errors. An editing pass or three was definitely needed. If nothing else, the stiff, unwieldy dialogue will pull you out of a scene far quicker than cake being shoved up a female’s vagina.

Ryechu mirrored my thoughts saying, “The grammar was awful – something I’d actually attack the game for… [the story] was fine for a nukige, though the catalyst to start sex was extremely forced.”

The art was just barely good enough to not be distracting and is certainly on par with more professional OELVNs. Ryechu disagreed slightly with me on this point, arguing that the art “was odd – it has a weird blocky style that persisted throughout the entire VN.” On the other hand, the chibis were very well done, something we both readily agreed upon. The music existed, and that’s about all there is to say about that.

I honestly can’t give this a score because I clearly am not in the target audience. Food, while I love it, does not arouse me sexually, and having it shoved into various female orifices also does not excite me either. For that matter, VN sex scenes do not really arouse me, so I honestly have no clue why this was assigned to me aside from someone in the Fuwanovel Offices hating me. Ryechu, this is your department, so I leave the scoring to you.

“For a nukige, it’s definitely different, and is an interesting idea, though a bit on the short side. Aside from a few compaints and grammar that’ll make anybody cringe, it’s worth taking a look at. I mean, there is a double-sided dildo in this game that is made of candy, THAT THEY EAT WHEN THEY ARE DONE WITH IT. While it’ll never hold a candle to Butter Me Up!, which is by far the best food VN ever, it definitely gives it a good run for its money. The game is available for free, but the official site is down at the time of writing, so a quick Google search will help you find a copy.”
