Different Tales is a Polish indie game studio founded in 2018. Currently, the studio has three visual novel titles released with the first one being Wanderlust Travel Stories(2019.) Besides visual novels, the studio also dabbles in games of other genres (Backpack Hero, Havendock) and publishing. Werewolf: The Apocalypse is their second visual novel, originally released back in October 2020 for the PC. The game was subsequently ported to three console platforms in the next four months as a download exclusive. More than two years after the console release, we are now getting the Package Edition. The Package Edition is the first instance of the studio selling physical copies of this game.

The story is set in Poland, in the World of Darkness, and has the player take the role of Maia Boroditch, a 24-year-old American woman of Polish descent. She has recurring nightmares of a forest, wolves, and blood, and feels a connection to the forest that drives her to travel to Białowieża in Poland to investigate and learn about her family history. There, she meets the guide Daniel, fellow student Anya, and the local resident Bartek, and explores the Białowieża Forest, one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe, visiting sacred spots including an ancient burial site, an abandoned wolf den, and a ceremonial place of power.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse — Heart of the Forest throws you deep into a primeval wilderness in the center of modern Europe. It’s where the protectors of nature wage their ancient, neverending war against the forces of destruction.
You play as Maia, who comes to Poland hoping to trace her family roots. Trying to learn more about her ancestry, she will discover her family’s dark secrets and reveal hidden truths about the last wilderness of Central Europe.
