Visual Novel Translation Status (02/25/2017)

This week’s header image comes from one of our two releases: MangaGamer’s The Shadows of Pygmalion (here). Our other release this week is Nekura Bishoujo (nsfw), which is detailed below!

VNTS (Visual Novel Translation Status Updates Series) is published each Saturday and brings the latest updates from VN translation projects — both licensed and by fans — from around the net. If you find any errors, or you think a project is missing from this list, please let us know in the comments.

From The Team:  Hi everybody. Thank you for all your support and continued readership. I ran home to do this post, and now I’m back to the lab. Stay out of trouble, eh? Go read a visual novel (The Shadows of Pygmalion, perhaps?)!

Zakabox™ 「This is the place where Zaka occasionally shares his wisdom. Will he show up this week? Will he have anything to say? Only time will tell.」

Decay’s MusingsHello, friends. I don’t know about you, but it’s been a somewhat lazy week for me. I’ve gotten a fair amount of Dracu-Riot editing done, but that’s about it. I fell down a Europa Universalis IV hole once again, and I’m struggling to climb my way back out. Even now, I want nothing more than to load up my Brunei game, where I managed to form a highly advanced Malayan Empire spread across the world. Alas, I have Chrono Clock to read and review.

And wow, yeah, I guess that’s coming out in like three days? There goes my dream of a day one review. I was of holding back on playing the beta a ton because it wasn’t fully translated yet. And… it still isn’t? I don’t really know what’s up with that. Surely, the tracker is just wrong and they aren’t going to release it with an untranslated ending, right? If that number hadn’t been slowly going up for the last week, I’d think so, but… I’ll have to ask around and get to the bottom of this. [update: Dovac on their discord confirms the release date. The boys and girls at SP will be working through the weekend to meet this tight deadline.]

But let’s not forget the releases of this week! Shadows of Pygmalion seems interesting and has actually been on my VNDB wishlist for some time now, but I’ve also heard some mixed things about it. Yuri has never quite been my thing (despite me liking Kindred Spirits so much), and I also find stories that sort of dance around the issue instead of being forthright with it to be kind of frustrating, which I’ve heard Pygmalion is like. I struggled to get into Aoishiro when I gave that one a shot way back when for much the same reason. Still though, if it gets good reviews, I might give it a shot anyway.

And then there’s that nukige translated by Quof. Not gonna lie, I simply can’t see the appeal of Miel nukige. But hey, if that’s what you’re into, then I’m glad that someone has your back. I feel for anyone who’s willing to get their hands dirty with translating nukige. They work just as hard as any other translator for a very dedicated and horny fanbase, yet often get no respect from anyone else in the community. Well, you have my respect, you brave defenders of porn-lovers everywhere, you.

Oh, and also, RIP Luna Translations. We have yet to correct the table entries, but the yeah, looks like Luna Translations has officially bit the dust. They were too big, too ambitious, and too crazy for their own good. You could probably write an entire tome on the lessons to be learned there, but the biggest and most obvious is likely to know your own limits. Understand yourself and your place in the world, know what you are and are not capable of, and maybe you won’t crash and burn into the ground as hard as Luna did.

We don’t really know what this means for all of their projects, but most of them were being done by fairly autonomous teams. Majo Koi Nikki still lives for now, though their lead translator seems to have gone AWOL, unrelated to the drama. I imagine Witch’s Garden will still go on. I’ve heard the two translators on that have been doing good work ever since they threw out everything the previous team did. I’m not sure about the rest of the projects, though. If there are any updates, we’ll be sure to bring them to you.

Well then, that’s all for me. See you all next week!

TAYsteful Thoughts™When I get incredibly stressed (like this week, an exam-week), I find I think about The Brothers Karamazov more than normal. I’ve gotta run out the door, but I wanted to throw this quote out there — it’s something I’ve been pondering the last few days. Have a good week, everybody!

“Besides, nowadays, almost all capable people are terribly afraid of being ridiculous, and are miserable because of it.”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

What I could say for now is that this week is the most active in 2017 yet in term of VNTS because there’s several updayes from all of the section (Except JAST, though it’s already the norm though lol).

About Chrono Clock, I wouldn’t be so sure about the release date at 28th because right now at both of Steam and Nutaku the release days was still ‘Soon’ ie undetermined. So I would be just wait and see here, although of course I’ll be happy though if the release date was the truth. That’s all I could said in regard of Chrono Clock.

PS – I’ll be late for my VNTS Review here (Sorry).

So, what is the point of Denpasoft anymore? Sick of having to buy these games from multiple sites and have multiple accounts.

You mentioned Subarashiki Hibi to be released by FrontWing yet put Sekai Project as the publisher in the brackets?

Chrono Clock (Sekai Project) – TL: 94.55% > 97.07%; Releasing February 28th
Guess they’ll make it a bundle and release the edit patch with the 18+ patch for the people who actually care.

Not much of it seems to have surfaced to the public, there’s just a few members of various teams coming out and saying that yep, it’s dead. I’m privy to a bit more information than that, but as an outsider, I don’t feel like it’s my place to air their dirty laundry.

My VNTS Review for this week, and I think I already commented enough in regard of Chrono Clock release date both at here earlier and in my VNTS Review.

Hi fuwa team, i would like to report to you about 3 translation i found on the deep of the surface web.
-First : Sonohana 11 translation continue, have not checked today but can find the link on vndb in the tba eng release, translating file 111/120 done. I think the translator will propose it to mangagamer for localisation, if that don’t happen, it have high chance of a wild fan translation release for him, also partial patchh exist.
-Second and third are boot a hacking port of the youtube translation of the 2 steins;gate spin off not localized.
-The first one’s Linear Bounded Phenogram, the thread’s on Steam. The dude’s almost done, only 2 route remaining on 15 stuff to does. It’s a hacking of the chinese PC Port implementing the youtube translation.
-The second SG’s something darling, the good news’s the youtube translation is also done, the bad news’s no PC version in any language exist. The only way of reading the software translation’s with a PS Vita on last summer firmware 3.60 with henkaku hack installed (lucky, both my vita oled and tv has it). The dude’s doing an status update on a new twitter account for this.
-Obviously, maybe they don’t use the youtube translation and simply know japanese but both project sound moving too way too fast and look like a one man job, so i assume they use youtube translation. The youtube should have accepted the offer of reading steiner and made a real patch instead or sold translation for localisation. At less, it might also be like the Steins;Gate 0 fast porting job too.

Edit, seem both are from the same dude… anyway, here are the link :

Is this released version of Chrono Clock completely finished? Including editing and the rest?

nah it´s not, as stated by themselves in their own update + one of its staffmembers mentioned it being a little rough around the edges (dl-version), sth like options still containing japanese etc etc

The game text is fully translated, at the very least.

Are they going to finish it or leave it like this?

They have said that they will release patches to fix any issues that remain, but the only untranslated text seems to be in the external config app, which you can only access by manually navigating to the game’s install directory, and the in-game options menu is translated as it should be and contains everything you expect in VNs and more.

from what i get there´s also some good amount of lines left unedited, mostly the additional ero, but also some parts of its story. whilst true that most people probably wont even care, some do and generally offering a what feels like semi-raw product isnt that much of a good idea. wish they had taken few days longer and released it as it was meant to be, even if it had to be delayed for a little.

to me it appears like there are minor-major segments of the story/omake left that have yet to be edited, this is in addition to the issues mentioned above.

Nope, they didn’t finish the editing of the sex scenes.
