I hope you all had a pleasant week. Us Americans spent the week in our annual display of gluttony and excess. Let us give thanks to Butterball for raising turkeys for the slaughter by the millions, and to the wonderful men and women who dedicate their time and energy to bringing us cool Japanese visual novels in English. Now the rest of the world can experience first-hand the wonderful coming-of-age romantic journey that is Euphoria. Oh, and Clannad too, I guess.
Anyway! Welcome to our weekly VNTS (Visual Novel Translation Status) series, in which we track visual novel translation updates in-house (we don’t rely on /jp/ posts on 4ch, for example) and post it for your enlightenment and enjoyment each Saturday. - BunnyBlack 2 – Aroduc is putting the secret project on hold a bit in order to work on BB2. He plans on releasing a partial patch with the first dungeon.

Decay’s Musings
Ugh, I’m exhausted. Making this post was more difficult than usual tonight. One of the upgrades to our scripts heavily disagrees with my PC when I try to edit gigantic posts like this one. I was going to do a whole thing about the Steam Sale, but I honestly just want this to be over so instead I’ll limit this to my commentary. There’s a Steam sale! There are many discounted Visual Novels (link), as well as many things claiming to be VNs but aren’t. That’s the steam tag system for you. Check something out and maybe you’ll find something interesting for cheap. The Fruit of Grisaia is just $20 and eden* is $9, for two good deals.
This week was a pretty exciting one. Two big VN releases happened, and each VN is popular for wildly different reasons. Obviously I’m talking about Clannad and euphoria here. You all know about Clannad. I never actually touched the VN until this week, but I’ve seen the anime. I’m sure there are a LOT of people like me, and this makes for a pretty good potential market, as it turns out! Clannad has been selling remarkably well for a $40+ VN so far. I’ve dabbled in it a bit, and yeah, it seems alright. I’m not really sure it lives up to the hype, but I get why it’s beloved.
I had to put Clannad on hold once euphoria came out, however. euphoria is like a mid-level BDSM-lovers dream. I’m not saying I’m a big one of those guys, but I can appreciate that kind of thing from a more distant, fetishistic standpoint. Whenever these kinds of stories start to get too self-serious, however, I start to roll my eyes. You see, euphoria is weird. It has a ~plot twist~. I’d go so far as to call it a genre shift. One half of this VN works better on its own than the other, and they don’t necessarily seem to work very well together so far. I’ve yet to get my first real ending, though, so we’ll see how things develop. I will be reviewing this for FuwaReviews and you can probably expect that review to go up early next week.
There has also been some phantom progress I didn’t highlight this week. Moogy has been quoted on IRC saying that the SubaHibi patch release may be close. And the Koichoco team seems to be closing in on a patch release as well. I don’t have much faith in SubaHibi releasing any time soon, but Koichoco may be closer than some are expecting. It will be nice to see two of the eternal projects that have been around for ages finally finish. What’s next, Yoakena??
I better wrap this up soon. I need to get back on euphoria or Ryechu will beat me mercilessly. I’m pretty sure that’s against some labor laws but seeing as there’s no Eroge Reviewers Union (yet) there’s not much we can do about it. Such is the life of the proletariat. Welcome to the club. Word’s around on the net that Fraternité is equally spooky, though it’s a different kind of thriller. Let us see how Euphoria’s sales will fare, maybe mangagamer will pick up Fraternité too.
Fraternite’s ratings are much worse on vdnb and EGS so I’m a little skeptical of it. I’d rather get “Ero Manga!” lol

Here’s hoping someone picks up Tsujidou-san no Jun’ai Road…i’ve never heard of it before but it’s always nice to see newer VNs being worked on.
