Fan Translation Recruitment Bulletin (6/12/2014)

Aah, fan translation teams. Groups change, members fade in and out, recruitment can be spotty – and that’s where these posts come in. This is a list of some of the translation projects on Fuwanovel that are currently looking for more members, with descriptions of the VNs and requirements for joining listed. If you like things really compact, you might want to try Tiago’s list instead (which is also updated more frequently.) I do these posts every two weeks, and any project that doesn’t respond to me poking them as a reminder to give me an update more than twice gets taken off the list.

Quick non-entry mention – Sakura Subs, working on the Yuzusoft VN Amairo Islenauts, is now looking for one more translator (for Yune’s route) since they lost one.

If you are a project leader and want to be listed in the next post, or want to correct information in your current entry, do message me on the forums.

Touch, Shot! Love Application

Looking for translators, and really needs a hacker to get script extraction/insertion to work.

Looking for translators, potentially another hacker to try to get extraction/insertion to work.

What if you could know what your significant other was thinking? There’s an app for that on the “yPhone” in Touch! Love Application. The game, which has full 3D female models, lets you read the mind of your in-game lover. Touch, Shot! Love Application’s concept is to let players peer into conversations while seeing what the other person is thinking.

No, this isn’t an iPhone game. Touch! Love Application is being made for PlayStation 3 by Dream Club developer Tamsoft, with Compile Heart as the publisher.

“Regrettably we have not started translating the VN, because we still need unpack (full) scripts from it (one man already trying, but if you could help it would be great). And of course we need translators for this game, you already can join and start translating scripts that we have (later we replace lines in original scripts and of course you need to know Japanese for it).”

You can apply in their forum thread.

Sukisho! Target Nights + series

Recruiting translators and translation checkers.

A BL visual novel series.

In the second installment of the series that inspired the 2005 Boys’ Love Anime, Sora meets a new student, a young altar boy named Chris, who Sunao is immediately suspicious of. Soon after, Sora receives a strange note, saying “I will take your most precious thing”.

Meanwhile, Sora and Sunao keep finding themselves in bed together without knowing how they got there.

Currently at  1.13% translated.

Recruiting:  Japanese -> English Translators.  Ideally, translators will have a solid grasp of both languages.  They are seeking translators who will provide more consistent work.  While they don’t have line count requirements, etc., the teams does expect that with an additional translator they will be able to update their progress sheet much more often. As of current the project’s one translator isn’t doing much, so getting another translator would help greatly.

They are also seeking translation checkers for the VN, as well as the audio dramas.  The same rules for as those for translators apply for translation checkers.

Contact Information:  anybody interested in the project can drop Ryechu an e-mail at [email protected], or via the contact form on the team’s website.

Shinobi Ryuu

Looking for 1-2 translators.

Another of SoftHouse Chara’s strategy simulators where you control the Suigen ninja clan which is on the verge of collapse. Will you be able to assist in the clan’s rise to former glory or will you be the responsible for it’s downfall?

Most menus/images and tooltips are translated.

The project is currently recruiting translators (ideally 2) and 1 proofreader. They don’t set any “minimum pace” for collaboration members. This is a fan project and it’s a hobby and it should never feel like a job. The only thing that the team expects is that you deliver what you say you will deliver, and to warn the other members if you’re going to be inactive.

MiraiTranslations is a small and friendly team which was recently created and wishes to deliver full content patches of games with strong gameplay elements. Right now they we have few members, but they are looking to strengthen the roster of the team by recruiting interested people. The team itself currently consists of 1 translator (Naurlas – currently busy), 1 editor (Sality), 1 hacker (Orochinagi – also works on image edition, website management) and support from SomeLoliCatGirl on some issues.

You can offer your assistance by replying in their forum thread, PMing orochinagi or through the project’s webpage.

MiraiTranslations is also translating Wizard’s Climber as a side-project, but Shinobi Ryuu is their main priority.

Amnesia

PSP project. Looking for a hacker for script reinsertion (into ISO files) and a translation checker.

Amnesia is a 15+ otomege for the PSP. It was created by developer Otomate (who also made Hakuoki), though I have no idea if the two VNs have the same writers. Interestingly, has the Unique Routes and Early Branching Plot tags on vndb (kinda F/SN style?).  Description courtesy of the My NeoRomance forums:

It starts on August 1.
The heroine wakes up in the morning to find her memories from before that day ALL gone…
How she lived her life, what kind of relationships she had with people, all blank like a white paper.

Calling himself a ghost, a boy named Orion appears in front of you. You start on your quest to get your memories back with an everyday life with Orion’s help, but one day, you get a phone call from someone you don’t know. You meet with ‘him’ whom you have no memories of. A love story starts with you with no memories and ‘him’.

The current team consists of 7 translators,  two proofreaders, and one image editor. They have fully translated the prologue and one route, with some progress on two other routes.

They are looking for a hacker for script reinsertion into ISO files and a translation checker.

They have a thread at the gbatemp forums, and a Fuwanovel thread.

SoniComi /  Motto! SoniComi

Looking for translators.

VN with gameplay featuring permanently-screwed-on-headphones-chan Super Sonico as seen on TV. Has a PC all-ages version and a 17+ PS3 one. Description, part of a t-ono.net text:

SoniComi is based on Sonico, an overly busty amateur idol and mascot of Nitroplus, and features players as her cameraman. Naturally as a cameraman, you will both film and court her.The adventure phase deals mainly with your job as a cameraman, giving you the task of planning her photo shoots to the client’s requests. Gravure fans will be happy to know that they actually get to take pictures as Sonico poses around the set.

The team has currently translated 984/18196 lines. They are planning to translate both the PC and PS3 versions of SoniComi. They have one translator (working at a slow pace), one editor, two hackers, two beta testers and two image editors.

The team is looking for translators and image editors. Translators don’t need very high Japanese skills. You can contact them by leaving a comment on their website, sending a mail to [email protected], PMing the project leader, or posting in their Fuwanovel thread. You may be able to contact them via fax.

Koi ga Saku Koro Sakura Doki

Looking for one translator.

A romance VN by Palette released this year; nice art. Story outline:

Yuma is a second-year student at Mihaya Academy who listens to love problems from girls at the school and gives them thoughtful advice. This has made him quite popular and loved, resulting in a 21,000 yen (taxes included) ‘love bounty’ placed on him. The girls came to him with problems ranging from jealousy to infidelity. Having heard about so many troubles related to love, Yuma lost any desire he had for it.

One day, a mysterious girl appeared before him. She had never been in love, but she believed it was a wonderful thing. She asked him if he would like to be in love, and said that as a love fairy, she will help his love come true.

The project is currently at 24523/49257 (50%) lines translated and 17569 (36%) lines edited, with QC at 32%. It is currently staffed by one translator, one editor, two image editors and two hackers.

They are looking for one translator, who should have:

  • High Japanese proficiency
  • Decent English proficiency
  • Motivation (it’s a good idea to start by reading the game to completion)
  • Experience as a translator and/or VNs in general
  • Decent TL Speed
Translators will have to pass a test.

You can contact the project leader at [email protected]. The forum thread is here.

Magical Marriage Lunatics!

Looking for translation checkers; another translator would be nice.

Let’s just go straight to the project leader’s description:

Yuuta is a typical guy living a typical life with a not so typical back story. What’s that back story? Ah, now that’s incentive you see. Come help us out and we will gladly tell you, but otherwise, you will have to wait until this gets translated, or you learn Japanese. Otherwise, back to the description…

Yuuta basically wakes up one day with a giant mansion in his backyard, and some girl saying that she is his fiance. Next up, his childhood friend confesses for some reason I will never understand, and then a bunch of other people do as well.

Does it sound like a typical Moe game? Well it is to some extent, but there is in fact a story which is heavily focused on that back story I mentioned.

The team has translated; they are now 74.4% through the common route; that’s 11816/64062 lines (18.51%) in total. Editing and TLC is at 8.99%. They need translation checkers desperately, but they must know their stuff. Another translator would also be nice. As for translator requirements:

“We honestly just need you to translate something. If you can translate at least a file per week that would be awesome, but if there is a special situation, don’t hesitate to tell me. Also, we don’t want machine translators. You don’t have to be super good at translating Japanese to English, so as long as you aren’t as terrible as a machine, we will take you with open arms!”

The Fuwanovel thread is here; they have a blog as well.

Akai Ito

Looking for one or more translators.

Akai Ito is an all-ages yuri VN from the same series as the already translated Aoishiro. Mixing Japanese mythology with a contemporary setting, it’s also got quite a lot of action.

After her mother passes away, Kei Hatou heads for her father’s house in Hemizuka to arrange for her mother’s inheritance.  In the train on the way there, Kei has a mysterious dream of a huge tree and a woman who seems to be lost in sadness.

In the land of Hemizuka, Kei learns the secret concealed in her own blood through various meetings with an Oni Slayer, a friend of her late mother, a young girl accompanied by a white fox, and even the mysterious girl from her dreams.

The translation is currently at 21.5%, of which 18.5% is from an earlier translation project. The project has no translators, one hacker, two editors, and a leader (Okami). The previous translator went MIA.

The team is looking for one or more translators. The VN uses medium-level Japanese and is of medium length.

If you wish to join the team, contact Okami at [email protected], post in this thread on the Fuwanovel forums or send him a PM through his Fuwanovel profile.

Witch’s Garden

Looking for translators and translation checkers.

VN by Windmill Oasis. Its main claim to fame is the  E-Mote system. Note: the system is used really badly in that video (dem mouthflap fails.) Nekopara is a better example.

Yousuke came to the bustling tourist city of Kazashiro to attend the school there. The Western-style houses lining the streets and the townspeople’s attire give the city an exotic charm. To top it off, a ‘witch’ named Ayari will be living with him at the boarding house Oasis, which is owned by his aunt Yuuko.

Later, he meets two other ‘witches’ Suzuno and Misumi, and reunites with his older sister-like childhood friend Ririko, who is a ‘knight’. Every day is full of exciting events and before long, they are brought again into a different world. Surely this is the world of love.

The VN is currently at 16097/67201 (23.95%) lines translated,  2191/67201 (3.26%) lines TLC’d, and 2089 lines edited.  A somewhat rough prologue patch was released on 3 December.

The team is urgently looking for more translators and translation checkers; 200 lines every 2 weeks is the minimum output for all positions. You can contact them through IRC at #Despair_TL on Rizon or on their blog.

Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort

Looking for more editors, translators and translation checkers, but mostly needs TLC.

If you’re wondering where the Cocoro@Function’s Mina route translator went, this is the answer: another Pulltop VN.

Soutarou only just manages to pay his school fees by doing part-time jobs. After helping his kouhai Umi and skipping his shift, he was fired from his part-time job and was having problems making ends meet. Umi felt responsible for his present situation and introduced him to a part-time job at a Southern resort.

With deep blue skies, clear seas and vibrant vegetation, the place looked exactly like in the travel magazines. Moreover, he was surrounded by many girls: energetic imouto-like Sango, affectionate tennen ojousama Riho, shy and earnest Shiori, and the kind but also strict manager Nagisa. Arriving at the resort, Umi turned to him and asked him to spend the time there as her boyfriend.

Consistent updates of the project status can be found at twitter (https://twitter.com/Mdzanime) and via Google Drive.  The project is currently at 28695/36325 (79.00%) lines translated. All images are translated. The project currently has one translator, two editors and a bunch of quality checkers. It needs a translation checker significantly more than anything else.

You will need to pass a test for each role; the head translator is especially picky when it comes to his editing requirements. Editors should be able to word things better and more fluidly than the translator, rather than fix his grammar. Translators should be reliable, though they are not required to keep the same pace as the head translator.

You can find more details, and apply, at MDZ’s site.

Hoshizora no Memoria -Eternal Heart-

Needs a translator/translation checker and a hacker.

Eternal Heart is Hoshizora no Memoria‘s fan disc. Unlike some fandiscs which are mostly there to provide sexual content, it has two story-focused routes; one for Mare and one for the girl from the lookout.

Yes, finally a decent Mare route, though I’ve heard it’s actually more about *is shot by Steve*. It’s also got more h-focused sideroutes for the other heroines.

While a decent lot of the VN is translated, the tl quality isn’t that good in general; it needs TLC or just plain re-translation.

The team needs a hacker who can help with script reinsertion, translator for ***’s route / TLC for everything. You should probably know what I mean by *** if you want to join the team. Liking lolis is a plus. Contact Steve for more information.

Changes this week:

Removed Lovely x Cation since they have enough members.
Re-added Touch Shot! Love Application (though it’s liable to drop off if it doesnt get off the ground this time).
Witch’s Garden project now needs only translators and TLC. They also released a prologue patch(!)
Sukisho project now has zero productive translators. Noted this.
Shinobi Ryuu is now only recruiting translators due to their only tl being MIA due to RL.

Pretty much all the descriptions are (sometimes edited) from Hau~ Omochikaeri!;  Aki Ito’s was a moderately heavily edited (with potential meaning drift…) Wikipedia thing. Other stuff might be credited in-article…

Zakamutt

Writer of irreverent VNTS commentaries, shadowy Fuwanovel string puller, Swedish, ambivalent toward meatballs. Brave Fuwanovel Skype Group memeber (rip), technically a reviewer, chronic everything staller. I am all these things and more, but mostly I'm really lazy. Loves yuri, reading, chocolate, and quality sugar-free colas. Hates VNs with too many choices and long walks on the beach.
