VN Translation Status (2/11/2014)

I blame being on time this week on holy wow yet another Fuwalogo change happened just as I was writing this.

This is more or less a copy of a post the user VNTS does on 4chan’s /jp/ board weekly, with some edits, potential additional entries and such. Entries in green have progressed since last week; this week, we saw progress on 23 projects and the release of Sukisho! First Limit and Cartagra.

With the release of the first installment in the Sukisho! series, JOAT-Translations will now be moving on to the second, Target Nights… and they also started a project for a nukige. I have no clue either.

The Nekopara (slated for 30 December) thing is basically a multi-lingual release; translator is hired by the Japanese so quality not guaranteed. Interestingly, the CEO of Sekai Project has been retweeting the creators of Nekopara on and off.

The last blog post was about Cartagra, please at least pretend you read that one to appease my poor soul. Also, DCIII at 66.6% of common route translated might warrant a chuckle. I wouldn’t worry too much about the weirdness surrounding Majikoi’s Miyako at the moment, but you can read the thread and judge yourself.

SO HYPE FOR NEKOPARA.
(in a totally wholesome, normal, non-explicit way. Right. Let’s go with that.)
Let us pray for at least a half-decent translation.

Also the Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort guy is a madman. Daily updates and everything. Other translators, take note! Even if progress is slow, keep people in the know! That rhymed apparently. Anyway, yeah, that dude is awesome. Can’t wait for that to drop too!

Also also, Amagami and Majikoi, keep bringing me good news. Your progress pleases me greatly.

Thanks again for the easy-to-read status update, much appreciated!

To be fair, the koirizo guy can do daily updates precisely because he’s so hilariously consistent. It feels kind of bad to say you’ve done nothing, doesn’t it?

Thanks for the compliment as well, though I still think erogedownload’s is better if you don’t find the random end commentary to be of much use w

Very true. Though, I think I’d much rather see a translator let everyone know that a project is on hiatus, rather than pretending progress is happening when they haven’t even touched it for over a year (there are far too many examples of that).

Then again, seeing as these translations are pretty much just free labor, I guess I don’t really have the right to suggest or complain about anything. To be clear, I appreciate any amount of translation work done on anything. I’m just…. being an asshole I guess. WORK AT YOUR OWN PACE TRANSLATORS, I LOVE YOU ALL.

P.S. I dig the random end commentary. So take my words, inject them into your bloodstream, and use them as fuel to remind you that you’re kicking ass.

Umineko PS3fication Team is releasing a DEFINITE PS3 patch doe Umineko with
“As mentioned, the game is in FullHD (1080p)
Migrated to OpenGL with shaders
Currently we have Linux, OS X and Windows builds
Dual-language: the game is in English and Russian with an updated translation (still in progress) — the edits/fixes to the English version bring the translation of episodes 1-4 up to the higher standard set by WH’s Chiru release, fix punctuation and consistency issues, make the translation compatible with a voiced release, and (optionally) incorporate edits that were included in the PS3 version.
Completely reworked text renderer: multiple proportional fonts with small caps and italics support, gradients, glyph borders.
Added async stuff: animated effects, opaque and partially transparent videos, full rain support (even the multilayered one, sandwiching sprites and visible outside windows).
Full CG and sprite support: animated lips with voice synchronisation, one-to-one correspondence with PS3 for colour manipulations (monochrome/sepia/darkened for nighttime/etc.), sprite positioning and movements, special effects like motion blur, etc.
It is almost obvious from my point of view, but: picture box, reworked music box and menus, named textboxes, trophies, BGM title display support;
We are also working on enhanced joystick support (including rumble) and a more integrated Message Browser;”
