These posts are intended to be run weekly (or perhaps biweekly), and will list fan translation projects who are recruiting more members.
Only projects with a thread posted on the Fuwanovel forums will be listed. Kind of a pilot thing right now, so might not run them forever; It’s a lot of work right now.
I first proposed the idea here. Since the post is pretty long, more below the cutoff.
Koi ga Saku Koro Sakura Doki
Looking for one translator.
A romance VN by Palette released this year; nice art. Story outline:
Yuma is a second-year student at Mihaya Academy who listens to love problems from girls at the school and gives them thoughtful advice. This has made him quite popular and loved, resulting in a 21,000 yen (taxes included) ‘love bounty’ placed on him. The girls came to him with problems ranging from jealousy to infidelity. Having heard about so many troubles related to love, Yuma lost any desire he had for it.
One day, a mysterious girl appeared before him. She had never been in love, but she believed it was a wonderful thing. She asked him if he would like to be in love, and said that as a love fairy, she will help his love come true.
The project is currently at 11179/49257 (23%) lines translated and 2858 (6%) lines edited. It is currently staffed by one translator, one editor, two image editors and two hackers.
They are looking for one translator, who should have:
- High Japanese proficiency
- Decent English proficiency
- Motivation (it’s a good idea to start by reading the game to completion)
- Experience as a translator and/or VN’s in general
- Decent TL Speed
You can contact the project leader at firstname.lastname@example.org. The forum thread is here.
Soukoku no Arterial (Arterial of Origins)
Looking for (more) translators, editors, QC.
A gameplay eroge by Eushully, Soukou is an ADV/RPG/TCG with the highlight being its card battle system.
Shuuya lives with his younger sister Mirai and attends Academy Tengyou Daini. However, their peaceful days come to an abrupt end as their world is taken over by an alternate world called Waibin Sekai – one where angels and demons battle each other and monsters called ‘creators’ roam freely.
The students are forced to decide whether to ally with the angels, the demons or neither of them. No matter which choice they make, they will be hard pressed to survive in this dangerous world.
The team is very close to having an unedited prologue translation released, and their main goal for now is getting the entire “Common route” (to the end of chapter 3) fully translated.
The team currently has two translators; no other positions filled. They are looking for more translators, and people to fill the other usual positions in general (likely less need for a hacker, more editors and QC). The game is already hacked to some extent, and there is a translation patch for the interface.
Magical Marriage Lunatics!
Looking for one translator.
Let’s just go straight to the project leader’s description:
Yuuta is a typical guy living a typical life with a not so typical back story. What’s that back story? Ah, now that’s incentive you see. Come help us out and we will gladly tell you, but otherwise, you will have to wait until this gets translated, or you learn Japanese. Otherwise, back to the description…
Yuuta basically wakes up one day with a giant mansion in his backyard, and some girl saying that she is his fiance. Next up, his childhood friend confesses for some reason I will never understand, and then a bunch of other people do as well.
Does it sound like a typical Moe game? Well it is to some extent, but there is in fact a story which is heavily focused on that back story I mentioned.
The team hasn’t gotten that far, having translated about a quarter of the common route. They’ve got all they need except for translators (of which they have none). They are looking for one translator; their requirements:
“We honestly just need you to translate something. If you can translate at least a file per week that would be awesome, but if there is a special situation, don’t hesitate to tell me. Also, we don’t want machine translators. You don’t have to be super good at translating Japanese to English, so as long as you aren’t as terrible as a machine, we will take you with open arms!
Mainly looking for translators.
Takumi is a normal guy who barely gets by with part-time jobs. One day, he was asked to attend the prestigious private school Rokuroku Gakuen while impersonating a rich student that looks just like him.
Although he was hesitant to accept this strange request, circumstances (mainly financial) compelled him to agree to do it. However, he knows nothing about high society. Will he be able to keep his cover?
” Noble Works is a relatively recent game (2010), created by Yuzusoft, a company that has been and continues to make high-quality visual novels since 2006. Its format is like that of a standard eroge, with five heroines, each having their own route of approximately the same length as the common route. It takes 30-50 hours to complete. For more information, consult the vndb page: http://vndb.org/v4806.”
The team has translated roughly 5000/57690 lines. It consists of one translator, one translation checker, one editor, and the project leader (Keisuke).
They are mainly looking for translators at the moment. They expect translators to deliver relatively decent translations at a rate of about 500 lines/week.
You can view the current news and status of their project in this thread. If you wish to apply for a position, send Keisuke a message.
Looking for one or more translators.
Akai Ito is an all-ages yuri VN from the same series as the already translated Aoishiro. Mixing Japanese mythology with a contemporary setting, it’s also got quite a lot of action.
After her mother passes away, Kei Hatou heads for her father’s house in Hemizuka to arrange for her mother’s inheritance. In the train on the way there, Kei has a mysterious dream of a huge tree and a woman who seems to be lost in sadness.
In the land of Hemizuka, Kei learns the secret concealed in her own blood through various meetings with an Oni Slayer, a friend of her late mother, a young girl accompanied by a white fox, and even the mysterious girl from her dreams.
The translation is currently at 21.5%, of which 18.5% is from an earlier translation project. The project has one translator, one hacker, two editors, and a leader (Okami). The translator is also working on two other projects, which is why the translation hasn’t progressed much.
The team is looking for one or more translators. The VN uses medium-level Japanese and is of medium length.

Looking for translators, TLC and an editor(?)
VN by Windmill Oasis. Its main claim to fame is the E-Mote system.
Yousuke came to the bustling tourist city of Kazashiro to attend the school there. The Western-style houses lining the streets and the townspeople’s attire give the city an exotic charm. To top it off, a ‘witch’ named Ayari will be living with him at the boarding house Oasis, which is owned by his aunt Yuuko.
Later, he meets two other ‘witches’ Suzuno and Misumi, and reunites with his older sister-like childhood friend Ririko, who is a ‘knight’. Every day is full of exciting events and before long, they are brought again into a different world. Surely this is the world of love.
The VN is currently at 8822/64363 (13.71%) lines translated, 1634/64363 (2.54%) lines TLC’d, and… 63 lines edited.
The team is looking for translators and translation checkers, and you can contact them through IRC at #Despair_TL on Rizon or on their blog.
Looking mostly for a translation checker, also 1 more translator
A moege by Yuzusoft. Has a doggirl and a side character whose vndb role is, inexplicably, “Werewolf”. (okay, probably because he is one…)
The protagonist gets asked to work in a girls’ school which just happens to be located on an island called Lyserg which is located in the sky. The setting is a city which resembles a mid-century European town, and there, he meets many cute girlies…
The team has translated the prologue and common route (with the prologue fully edited and the common route 38% edited.) They have released an alpha patch for the prologue. They have also translated 18.5% of one route, 5% of another, and 20% of the bonus content (none of these are edited).
They are looking for a translation checker, as lack of a TLC is currently the main thing holding them back. As a translation checker, your job will be both to point out major translation errors and to nitpick when things just seem to sound/look slightly wrong as well. They currently have two translators, an editor, and a hacker.
Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort
Looking for more editors, translators and translation checkers, but mostly needs TLC.
If you’re wondering where the Cocoro@Function’s Mina route translator went, this is the answer: another Pulltop VN.
Soutarou only just manages to pay his school fees by doing part-time jobs. After helping his kouhai Umi and skipping his shift, he was fired from his part-time job and was having problems making ends meet. Umi felt responsible for his present situation and introduced him to a part-time job at a Southern resort.
With deep blue skies, clear seas and vibrant vegetation, the place looked exactly like in the travel magazines. Moreover, he was surrounded by many girls: energetic imouto-like Sango, affectionate tennen ojousama Riho, shy and earnest Shiori, and the kind but also strict manager Nagisa. Arriving at the resort, Umi turned to him and asked him to spend the time there as her boyfriend.
Consistent updates of the project status can be found at twitter (https://twitter.com/Mdzanime) and via Google Drive. As of 12/08/2014, it’s at 15632/36325 ( 43.03%) lines translated. All images are translated. The project currently has one translator, two editors and a bunch of quality checkers.
You will need to pass a test for each role; the head translator is especially picky when it comes to his editing requirements. Editors should be able to word things better and more fluidly than the translator, rather than fix his grammar. Translators should be reliable, though they are not required to keep the same pace as the head translator.
You can find more details, and apply, at MDZ’s blog.
Hoshizora no Memoria -Eternal Heart-
Needs a translator and a hacker (for reinsertion).
Eternal Heart is Hoshizora no Memoria‘s fan disc. Unlike some fandiscs which are mostly there to provide sexual content, it has two story-focused routes; one for Mare and one for the girl from the lookout.
Yes, finally a decent Mare route, though I’ve heard it’s actually more about *is shot by Steve*. It’s also got more h-focused sideroutes for the other heroines.
Sideroutes are close to ready, Mare’s route is currently getting a final edit/TLC pass. From what I can tell it’s mostly one translator that’s active, and he might not translate secret girl’s route afterward. A partial patch with any finished sideroutes and Mare’s route will be released after the Mare route TLC is complete. The team has one editor.
The team needs a hacker who can help with script reinsertion, and a translator for ***’s route. You should probably know what I mean by *** if you want to join the team. Liking lolis is a plus. Contact Steve for more information.
Steins;Gate Hiyoku Renri no Darling
Steins;Gate – Darling of Loving Vows (STEINS;GATE 比翼恋理のだーりん Steins;Gate: Hiyoku Renri no Darling?) is a romantic comedy, spin-off visual novel occuring in the Delta Attractor Field.
After repeated D-mail experiments, Okarin jumps to a world where 3% shift in world line was to be expected. And before he knew it, Kurisu as well as the rest of the members have been gathered and amidst preparations for a banquet. In this world, a new gadget had been created but the group is facing some troubles. They can’t afford to pay the electricity bill due to running too many experiments. Let’s see what this new gadget can do for us…The concept for this game is a love comedy with some sweet romance scenes and where 99% of the world is science but 1% is composed of … fantasies?!
The common route, Rukako’s route, and Moeka’s route are translated; Suzuha’s is next to be translated by Zakobot. Far as I can tell he’s the only one on the project.
The project is looking for Japanese to English translators with an intermediate or higher ability. They must maintan a minimum pace of 400 lines/day. You can apply by messaging Zakobot or by posting in the project’s forum thread.
Pretty much all the descriptions are (sometimes edited) from Hau~ Omochikaeri!; the Amairo one is from Danny Choo’s site and Aki Ito’s was a moderately heavily edited (with potential meaning drift…) Wikipedia thing.
