Higanbana no Saku Yoru Ni- Dai Ni Ya translation complete

higanbana
Hey there people, Kaguya here. So, the second night of Higanbana is finally translated- thanks to the awesome efforts at the people at spider lily trsanslations. http://www.spiderlilytranslations.com/

As always with Ryukishi, the story is incredibly well written. It manages to draw you in and it’s incredibly entertaining while still addressing serious issues of our society, such as bullying. As expected, the story is masterfully written and it presents some great food for thought while still making you care deeply about it’s characters.

Quoting from mangagamer: “From Japanese game developer 07th Expansion, creators of Higurashi When They Cry, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, and Rose Guns Days, comes author Ryukishi07’s scariest tale yet.

Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni is a sound novel set in an elementary school haunted by a group of seven youkai (spirits) who feed off of the souls of bullied children.

One such child, Marie Moriya, is struggling with the psychological turmoil of being repeatedly abused by her own teacher, and lives each day in misery. That is until she encounters the mischievous youkai Higanbana, who offers her a chance at revenge.

Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni is a horror story that examines the boundary between life and death.”

Has this game ever received the PS3 sprite Umineko treatment? If not, are there any plans for it?

It hasn’t, but the graphs aren’t that bad. I don’t think there are any plans for it, though.

There is no console release of Higanbana.

Also, I know I may be speaking to deaf ears here, but we put in a lot of effort to make the Japanese version of the game available as a digital download through MangaGamer. They really don’t cost that much when you consider you’re getting a brilliant story out of it. So we’d really appreciate it if people could purchase these games legally.

I can say that we have some very exciting ideas regarding bringing 07th Expansion’s titles to the overseas market that we’re looking into, but they’ll only be possible with the support of their fans. We’ll be looking closely at the sales figures to determine the feasibility of doing things that will benefit everyone.

If you wish to support 07th Expansion who created these wonderful stories by purchasing a copy of Higanbana legally, please visit our website:

First, thx for your efforts. New translations are always welcome.
Sadly, convincing somebody to pay for something he can get for free is a nigh impossible task. Also, why should anybody financialy support plans to officially release games that are already available as fan translations? (with the exception of the Higurashi/Umineko fandiscs).
As much as most people would love an environment were creators get properly compensated for the hard work they poured into their games, it’s still only a small minority that refuses to pirate. This very site even rejects the idea of intelectual property in the first place.
There is no real solution to this problem, even hard DRM can get cracked (and it will) and it pisses on the honest buyers on top.

Therefore (and I’m sure you already know this) I wouldn’t get my expectations too high when it comes to sales numbers at Mangagamer. As a fan, I can only hope that this doesn’t discourage you and other fantranslators from working on new titles. Still, many thanks and best of luck.

PS3 Umineko and Higurashi graphics are worse than the originals anyway.

@Boyo: I get what you’re trying to say, but I feel that there’s a sort of mentality where piracy is ‘the way to go’. I understand that some people may not be able to afford the games or whatever (though they aren’t exactly expensive). But I wish people would actually consider buying the games and only use piracy as a last resort. In addition, when we ultimately release updated versions of the translation, the people who pirate it will be getting a poorer experience.

We often get asked about Steam releases for Umineko, Higanbana and Rose Guns Days, as well as hardcopies. These, amongst many other ideas, are things we’d ideally like to see happen. But if people are happy to put up with translation patches and inferior experiences, then there’s no reason to pursue such things.

At the end of the day, if people refuse to see value in the time and effort the creators have put into these works, then they’ll be the ones missing out.

@Yirba I actually often buy the visual novels that are honestly available to me. There are quite a few titles that aren’t however, which is where the sticky part comes in. I have an account at Manga Gamer myself with quite a few purchases there. (Though I’ll admit it’s mainly Da Capo games I have a few other ones) Sadly while I’ll have friends that I can send your way that will be more then happy to buy the game, well, I don’t do well with scary things XD Though that said I do know these to be excellent stories/vns and would be more then happy to send people who love the series to your site. As for piracy, I think its more starting to seem like a “I support that which I enjoy” kinda feeling going on, well, with some. Not exactly great, but it could be something to keep an eye on I guess.

Personally, I think marketing forces like this one will have the most effect with the least amount of cash on creating the market needed for this kind of product.

Many of the current advertising techniques aren’t really penetrating new markets. Just old ones.
