Hey everybody, Tay here. Aksys Games Localization company has released Chunsoft’s Kamaitachi no Yoru in English on the iTunes App Store. The game costs $3.99 (free download/intro, $3.99 in-app purchase) and has been titled, “Banshee’s Last Cry“. It received a 12+ rating, has an install size of 432 MB, and is available right now! The app’s description reads:
Banshee’s Last Cry is a thrilling visual novel and choose-your-own-adventure story that takes readers on a deadly thrill ride of murder and deception. Set in a snowed in hotel lodge during Christmas, vacationers find themselves caught up in a murderous “whodunit” game when someone winds up dead. Local legend tells of a banshee whose screams can rip through flesh, but, is the killer really a deadly monster or the work of a madman?
An inventive twist on the traditional novel, Banshee’ Last Cry allows readers to make decisions, each unlocking several unique stories and endings. Added to the mix is a soundtrack befitting of a thriller novel and images to set the mood.
(I always enjoy reading the product descriptions of localized visual novels to see how they explain the genre. “Choose-your-own-adventure story… decisions, each unlocking several unique stories and endings… [befitting] soundtrack…” — it’s all very interesting.)
Please consider supporting the spread of VNs to the west by purchasing the game! ANN reports that the game has more than 30 endings.
Thanks to MetalUpa1014 for the head’s up!

How bout the android version? No news on that?
Sorry, no. Although there was an Android version in Japan, it doesn’t seem to have been localized. I find that really odd seeing as they’re the exact same game. It’s almost like how the Ace Attorney HD Trilogy was released in English on iOS but not on Android.
Ah too bad. Well atleast there’s the DraStic emu for those Ace Attorney games…
Never mind, because Aksys has confirmed that an Android version will soon follow.

Great
Thanks for posting! I’ve also updated the vndb description.
They could’ve localized the Vita version, too…
From what I’ve “played” so far, the iOS version changes the names and Americanizes the script. For example, instead of kamaitachi a Japanese yokai, they refer to the Banshee.
This is the most literal visual novel I’ve ever played and Aksys is likely targeting the eBook crowd. There’s a table of contents and the text is organized into pages. I’m really curious to see how much of the script they’ve changed.
Possibly worth mentioning: this is the game that inspired the Zero Escape series.
And the Infinity series, but the zero escape series writer/director was also a writer for the Infinity series so it’s not that suprising.
What is similiar tough, does Banshee’s Last Cry’s story take place on a single location where the characters are traped there?
Cliche set up but I think this going to be great
