Ever17 on Android (via VNDS)
Ever17 is one of those”classic”, “gateway” VNs often listed as players’ all-time favorites. Having it at your fingertips on your android device just feels happy.
Requirements: You’ll need five things to get this game on your device:
- The VNDS Android App (Paid – recommended for saving!) (Free)
- A copy of the game (Fuwanovel has you covered — click here for game page)
- Weeaboo’s VNDS converter (Link – Scroll down until you see Ever17 VNDS converter. Download the latest version.) (1.1.1 at the time of this publication)
- An appropriate cable to transfer the program data onto your Android device (usually USB)
- ~2.5 GB free space on Android memory or SD card (space depends on how high of quality you like your images)
Installation Steps
- Boot the Weeaboo Ever17 converter (“Ever17Converter.exe”). The converter has a nice, logical GUI: point the converter to the correct “Game Folder”, or the location of the Ever17 game you downloaded, and specify a folder where you want it to export the VNDS version
- For “Target Platform”, select the resolution of images you want for your device. The larger the resolution, the higher quality the images will be on your device
- Click “Start”. The converter will run and will alert you when it’s finished. It took my computer ~35 minutes to finish.
- Connect your device to your PC. Open up the android device and navigate to your “sdcard” folder
- Either find or create the following file structure: [sdcard]/vnds/novels
- Copy the Ever17 game folder into the “novels” folder. The folder you should copy over should be the game directory (so, within that “Ever17” folder should be the “background” “foreground” “save” “script” “sound” folders, etc.)
- Boot up the VNDS app. ”Ever17″ should be immediately visible in your game library. Click it to begin playing!

An Important Note about VNDS:
A big “Thank You” to reader neonism who made a few important points last week about the limitations of the VNDS app: many scene transitions, any and all sprite movement, graphic effects, and some movies are incompatible with the VNDS app. This means that some of the game presentation is lost in the translation process. If you haven’t played a game before, it’s recommended that you play it first on a PC for the “full effect”. After that, you won’t be missing the polished touches in the VNDS edition.
That said, everybody has their own tastes: I, for example, prefer the minimized text display on Fate/Stay Night and am willing to trade the zooms/splashes/Berserker roars which are not rendered in the VNDS edition. It’s your call.

The Converter (The latest version) just keep give me error after uncompress..Any idea?
What is it saying? If you can copy/paste it, maybe that’ll shed some light. One common error is making sure you’ve got enough space, and that you have the full game (again, I suggest downloading from Fuwanovel).
The standard winrar error for uncompressing files. I think that converter rar had problem because both winrar and 7zip cannot uncompress it.
Do you mean you can’t get the converter open? It’s a 7-zip file, so you have to use the 7-zip program to extract it. Once that’s done, you can simply click the “Ever17Converter.exe” file to get started.

I extracted the 7-zip converter, ran it, and didn’t have any problems earlier today before posting. I’m running Windows 7 (x64), but have seen it work on a Win7 (x32) and Vista.
If you’re still having problems, please write out in detail where you’re getting stuck, what you’ve done, the error messages, etc. It’s hard to offer support without that kind of info.

Yeah, i cannot extracted it with both winrar and 7zip. I am on xp btw. i had tried the new mega link and it is the same..
Is it possible for you to just share the extracted files?. since for some strange reason i keep getting error while extract the files. Thanks

I converted it and put it on my android phone in a folder called “vdns” that I created on the local memory. However it doesn’t show up in the app. I have specified both “/vdns” and /vdns/novels” as search paths… I must be doing something wrong, please help!
Hey, this is Tay, the author of the article. I think you misspelled the folder. It needs to be “vNds”, not “vDns”.

Thanks for your fast reply. There was an error in the path just like you said. I corrected it. However, it still didn’t work. After a while I found out I had to add “sdcard”, despite that the game is located on the local storage. So my search path looks like this (I’m using a Sony Xperia S):

I am trying to get this to work on my Nexus 10 device, however it just can’t seem to find ever17. Whatever I’m doing just isn’t working. The program keeps saying “No novels found in search folders:” and I’ve followed your directions at this site and I’ve also tried to change the name of the folder and move around with it. It just won’t seem to work. 🙁

I have a strange problem – I’ve converted the Premium edition of Ever17 (found at Fuwanovel) with the latest version of the VNDS converter, and everything seemed to work fine, BUT–there is one big problem. I don’t have any sprites in the VN. The music, voices, CGs and BGs seem to work, but there are no sprites whatsoever. How do I fix this? I’m running VNDS on Galaxy Note 2.
Turns out the problem was in a missing file – for some reason, I didn’t get ’foregrounds.zip’ from the conversion, which contains all the sprites. Getting the .zip fixed everything, sprites now appear as they should!
