Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish upon a Shooting Star- 星空のメモリア-Wish upon a shooting star-

Aaeru

Foreword Hoshizora no Memoria is a game that has been receiving incredibly positive reviews and I am delighted to see someone take up this project. My best of wishes to Insemination (translator) and oneoc (Hacker).

Interesting Tidbits
“If you’re referring to my use of ‘Moogy-dono’- everybody (or a large portion) calls him that on /jp/… I find the name quite catchy.”
“The only position is the TLC, really. It’s the only job which I can’t manage by myself.”

The Interview

Staircase Subs

Nice to meet you- it’s nice to know that there are other Australians out there. Here are the responses to your questions.

Firstly, are you the one responsible for making these pictures? http://i33.tinypic.com/6nqttk.jpg found in, http://forums.novelnews.net/showthread.php?t=35874
Yes

If so, do you have a Moogy-fetish? (No shame in admitting. I know another person in my team who does)
If you’re referring my use of “Moogy-dono”- everybody (or a large portion) calls him that on /jp/, which I more or less got used to, since it was amongst the first places I came across after founding my interest for VNs. I find the name quite catchy. Not too sure what you mean specifically by “fetish”, but I rarely make actual posts or comments about him. In retrospect, the Ixrec jokes are much more common… but that’s going off-topic.

What made you take up the Hoshizora no Memoria as a project?
It would probably be due to a number of reasons. In no particular order;
-as NNL would say “it’s pretty and shiny”

-it has a twin-tailed tsundere character (you can imagine my disappointment when Yosuga no Sora got C&Ded)
-something to improve my language abilities in genera-e-penis
-something to give back to the community

What other VNs have you played in the past?
I won’t be providing an entire list because that’s annoying. I’ll just say that I’ve played a large number of the (non-nukige) english fan-translated titles, and a few commercial translations- around 20 or so in total.

Have you ever considered joining a translation team like Flyable Hearts to boost your level of Japanese? (Flyable Hearts uses very basic Japanese language)
No, I haven’t, because the thought never really struck me. Even if you do mention now, it would still be a “no” because of the insane amounts of prejudice since my Japanese isn’t exactly fluent enough for actual efficient translating (but perfect for verifying the Chinese lines)- and the fact that I’m just some random anon from 4chan doesn’t help my cause. I wouldn’t want to drag some other project down.

What is the best thing you like about Hoshizora no Memoria and how would you sell it to a fan who has not played it yet?

Komomo. I have a thing for blonde twin-tailed tsunderes, which I mentioned in an earlier question. Regarding the second part of your question, honestly don’t know how recommend it. I normally just read the synopsis of a title and decide whether or not a title will suit to my tastes. I suggest others do the same.

Also, what would you say to a person who has never played a visual novel. What do you think is the draw for them to start playing now (or not play)?
Visual novels rape your free time. Now that I think about it, I should have just stuck with my animu. Look at the shitstorm I got myself into; 10+ titles in my playing backlog; 10+ airing shows; 55k text blocks to plough through etc. If anybody asks me whether they should start playing, I would probably answer “If you have a lot of free time on your hands”. Only advantage I see in playing VNs is a more comprehensive storyline than their anime adaptations.

PS. 20 hours more practising 1ccing PCB on Lunatic mode and I’ll be set; animu, VN, Touhou (and a dakimakura soon) will make me the ultimate weeaboo.wwwwwwwwwwwww

One more thing. Can you re-iterate all the positions that you are currently looking for? I will post that information on gemot and on my blog so that people are aware of the kind of help you need. e.g. I know you need TLC…
The only position is the TLC, really. It’s the only job which I can’t manage by myself. I can get by most of the other tasks to a fairly passable degree- unless people expect extremely polished commercial-standard releases. I am not looking for an editor (if you’re wondering why I haven’t mentioned that) because too many projects are stuck in editing hell. I’d like to get by with the bare minimum because smaller groups tend to be more co-ordinated.

Thank you for your response. The sender of this email will be away in Japan for another two weeks as of this writing.
