I am a fan translator currently working on the Katahane project on TLWiki (tlwiki.tsukuru.info/index.php?title=Katahane). Are you on Flyable Heart still? Or Asukimi?
Working (slowly) on AsuKimi now. FH got C&D’d at TLWiki, so it’s on hold for the forseeable future.
0. Why do you translate?
I translate because I enjoy visual novels, and I want to share them with people. I also enjoy the act of translation itself.
1. Do you care for fan support? What about fan interaction?
I don’t really get much in the way of either. Support is nice, but I don’t want to feel pressured about how slow I am. I like to just quietly work without causing drama.
2. Do you prefer to work alone or work with others?
I’m happy to work with others. There are a couple things I insist on doing myself though, namely organizing the files and editing the script.
3. How large of a team are you most comfortable working with?
Probably about five other people. I’m not sure, since I have so much trouble finding people to work with who won’t just up and disappear.
4. Have you suffered burn-out before? (stopped translating for long periods of time). What caused the burn-out?
Yes, I’ve suffered burn-out before. My health is extremely poor, and sometimes I just feel too sick to concentrate. The worst was a period of about 2 1/2 years where I was being operated on about every 10 weeks; by the time I had recovered from one surgery, I was back in the hospital.
5. Has /jp/ been much help? I see the Flyable Heart thread all the time on 4chan.
No, they haven’t. The Flyable Heart project on /jp/ isn’t my project, and was actually created to troll me. I tried to be nice and join the two projects, but I got told off when I did some editing on the /jp/ project’s scripts. They don’t want my help.
Thank you so much for your reply!
I hope you can find more translators
